As it marks 25 years of helping WA agribusinesses navigate a rapidly changing landscape, independent consultancy Agvise says more big changes are afoot – and that the future of farming looks bright.

Recently expanding its Perth headquarters and with offices in Merredin and Albany, Agvise predominantly supports the growth of large-scale agribusinesses across WA’s midwest to southwest farming regions.

Founded by director Shane Sander in 2000, the team now comprises nine highly knowledgeable and experienced team members, including fellow directors David Mighall and Nic McGregor.

“It’s been such an experience over 25 years and very rewarding to work with successful farm operators – some who’ve been clients since day one – as they traverse times of major transformation in the sector,” said Mr Sander.

“There’s been so much change already and there’s more on the horizon, such as the increasing availability of autonomous machines, enhanced AI tools to better predict yields earlier, shifting environmental pressures, changing global markets, and ever more accurate real-time imagery of crops.

“We’re excited about the future of agriculture and WA farmers are reasonably buoyant at the moment.

“There are always ups and downs in agribusiness, but we operate in a great part of the world.

“It’s a good industry to be in and we don’t see that changing any time soon.”

Mr Mighall said supporting clients through the next chapter was front and centre for Agvise.

“At Agvise, our aim has always been to empower agribusinesses and provide them with personalised advice that equips them with the confidence they need to move forward – and with rapid changes afoot, this is more important than ever,” he stated.

“We keep abreast of emerging technologies and encourage our clients to stay informed and adapt and adopt these when the timing is right for their particular operation.

“Helping families deal with the increasing complexities of intergenerational businesses is also a focus for us, especially as these types of operations are on the whole much larger than they were two and a half decades ago.”

Mr McGregor said the depth and breadth of support Agvise offered had shifted substantially over the years.

“When Agvise first formed, the internet was still young and many clients still had handwritten budgets,” he explained.

“Now everything is in the cloud, and our clients are very well educated, so we work with them on a more strategic level, helping them look beyond just the season to see their longer-term vision and execute an efficient plan to reach their goals.

“Often this includes research projects, brainstorming about acquisition strategies and capital investment, succession planning, looking at when to adopt innovations, and more.”

Said Mr Sander: “We’ve built a great team at Agvise and an impressive portfolio of clients while navigating times of major transformation and we’re eagerly looking forward to the next chapter.”
